Does Connect do more than just Occupational Therapy?

Connect has been designed as a multi-discipline capable EMR. The system can support Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy/Audiology, and Hand Therapy. You can purchase the disciplines all together or separately, depending on the type(s) of therapy practiced in your clinic. Each module was developed in conjunction with the corresponding Rehabilitation Society and follows each society's guidelines.

Is it a Web Application? Or is there software that must be installed on each desktop client computer?

The software can be provided via web services (where your data is resident upon our servers), or it can be housed locally on yours. In either case the software is exactly the same. The system is developed on a 3-tier architecture: A front-end application interacts with the middle layer (Web Services), which in turn talks to the back-end (Database) to fetch the data. There is a client installation required but the client is capable of communicating to the server via the internet (http).

How does this system help me with compliance?

Connect is continually enhanced with the help of each of the four Rehabilitation societies to ensure that documentation follows a logical flow, which leads to documented compliance. Following the recommended workflow for each patient, you will be able to justify your charges, as no charge can be made witout documenting what you did for the patient as part of your plan of care. Even though we cannot guarantee that all of your charges will pass an audit, many of our customers have lived through an audit or pre-audit and have found that Connect reduced discrepancies with Medicare. Connect also deploys automatic alerts (e.g. "Progress Report is Due"), so as to ensure compliance at the Therapist-Patient level, as well as at the organizational level.

Can Connect integrate scheduling/documentation/billing/outcome testing?

Connect software is fully integrated and contains modules for scheduling, documentation, and outcomes and analytics. The software can also be ordered with a billing module, or in many cases we can interface to your existing billing software. Connect automatically attaches the correct CPT code as you indicate the time spent with the patient for each intervention. It then assigns the correct number of units and sums the totals for timed and untimed services. Finally, the system automatically corrects for CCI edits and modifiers if needed. This charge information can then be sent directly to your billing system via our billing interface. We have interfaced with a large number of different companies to send data, or receive information from our system. These are the most common interfaces that we provide:

  • ADT demographic data from Your Vendor to Connect - Patient Registration demographic data is mapped to Connect to eliminate duplicate data entry
  • Billing interface from Connect to Your Vendor - charge information is sent from Connect to your billing system
  • Permanent Clinical Record Interface to Clinical Repository - this interface sends actual notes and documents to the clinical repository for other providers to view. The format of this interface is dependent on how your system can receive the data - the documents can be sent in an HL7 message, as a text document, or a Word document.

Why would we use your system over some of the other systems?

Connect offers scheduling, documentation, charge capture, and outcomes all in one package. No other system on the market is this comprehensive and flexible for your needs. Using Connect's state-of-the-art platform, you as a therapist can customize the software to your individual workflow by building forms if needed, customize goal kits and treatment kits, and customize reports for all stake holders. You can document all components of patient care and track outcomes. In addition, you are able to schedule patients and have Connect communicate directly with your billing system without redundant entry of the information.

Using Document Manager, clinical managers will be able to produce management reports on patient care operations from their offices. (e.g. clinical managers are able to view any and all reports that are upcoming, due, or past due). Cedaron is the only vendor who can supply the APTA's, AOTA's, ASHA's, and ASHT's databases for national benchmarking for quality improvement. Registered users will be able to access national and facility based outcomes measures for benchmarking patient progress. Connect software will allow for real-time systems updates when necessary to reflect changes in the use of diagnostic and procedure codes. In addition, the software meets all of the requirements for Medicare, including Physicians Quality Reporting System.

How much does your system cost? How is it priced?

Pricing for Connect is based on an annual subscription, with the overall cost determined by the quantity of FTE clinical users (therapists, physicians, nurses, etc...). Unlike other companies, there is no charge for administrative or billing users, software updates, customizing templates and reports, or clinical and technical support (24x7x365 days/year). Installation, interfaces, and training are separate, additional charges.

Can I try the software before purchasing it?

Unfortunately, we do not have a demonstration CD. Connect is a comprehensive full EMR-capable system requiring much more room than a CD can accommodate. Connect not only provides documentation, but also contains a compliance engine that deploys a "synthetic logic," which works in the background. We can schedule a live web demonstration of the software as well as provide you with numerous satisfied users as references. If you are interested in a web demonstration, please contact us at (800) 424-1007 or +1 (530) 758-7007.
