Cedaron was founded in 1990 by Dr. Malcolm Bond, Karen Bond and Gary Engle. We started with a NASA Small Business Innovation Research Grant and a vision to greatly improve specialty outcomes documentation. By combining our medical, technical, and marketing expertise, we were able to launch leading-edge products for registries, rehab, and workers’ compensation. Our software can be found around the world, for customers ranging from large healthcare institutions to solo provider practices and clinical teaching facilities.
Before Cedaron, the Bonds founded a successful isokinetics equipment and software company, which Inc. Magazine twice named as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States.

Karen co-founded Cedaron Medical in 1990 and leads the company’s exceptional growth, market expansion and software innovation for rehab, cardiology, and quality improvement teams. Having a close relationship with Cedaron’s customer family and long-lasting partnerships with industry associations, Karen listens carefully to their insight, anticipating trends as a guiding force for product development.

Karen’s career in clinical solutions began with Smith-Kline Beckman (GlaxoSmithKline) in 1977, where she served as the worldwide medical sales manager for the imaging division. In 1985, she became vice president of global sales at Loredan Biomedical, a developer of computerized physical therapy equipment. She later became President.
Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia University and her Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She and her husband, Malcolm (Cedaron’s Chief Scientist and co-founder), produce the award-winning Bondolio olive oil on their organic farm in California.
Malcolm has more than 40 years of experience in the medical industry and is a leading innovator in medical technology and software. In 1980, he founded Loredan Biomedical, Inc., a manufacturer of computerized physical therapy equipment. He built the company into a $25 million organization in four years, and helped make it one of the fastest growing companies in the U.S. It was named one of Inc. Magazine’s “500 Fastest Growing Private Companies in the U.S.” in both 1989 and 1990.
Malcolm holds several patents for rehabilitation system designs and outcomes management. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from University of California, Irvine. He has a Ph.D. in Physiology from University of California, Davis and has done Post Doctorate research at the University of Padova, Italy (The National Muscle Disease Research Center). He is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University College, London, England.
Malcolm’s academic interest was the plasticity of muscle. The research model he developed was to explore the effects of an implanted RF motor nerve control device on the dynamic biochemical and histochemical properties of the sub cell organelles of flexor carpi radialis and the papillary muscles. His work was funded by NIH, MDAA, Medtronic and the Muscle Disease Research Center of Italy. Malcolm’s academic history in applied life sciences research has been the source of the seeds for Cedaron’s innovative solutions for the spectrum of care inclusive of patient engagement, patient cohort design, process documentation and outcomes databases all natively integrated with analytics reporting service. Malcolm’s work with NASA was focused on countermeasures to the effects of micro g living on human physiology using a 30-day bed rest model.
Gary has more 3 decades of experience in all phases of electronic and system design. He served as the Systems Engineering Manager for General Electric Medical Systems and was the Lead Electronics Engineer at KLA Instruments Corporation. In 1988, He joined Loredan Biomedical as the Senior Electronics Engineer and later co-founded Cedaron Medical.
Gary holds seven digital scan-conversion patents, as well as several patents for the design of rehabilitation systems.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Sacramento.
